Before a flood….
1.) Educate yourself on flood insurance. Call us today!
2.) Safeguard your possessions: create a personal flood file that has information about all of your belongings and keep it in a secure place, like a waterproof safe deposit box. Be sure to have a copy of your insurance policies and other vital documents in this safe place. Keep a written record of all major household items, or even a videotape record is ideal.
3.) Prepare your house: Clear debris from gutters and downspouts; elevate electrical components (sockets, wiring, etc.), appliances and furniture as much as possible; make sure your sump pump is working properly and consider a battery-operated back up.
4.) Have a family emergency plan: be sure to plan and practice evacuation routes with your family; have emergency numbers posted by your phones and go over these with children; make a plan to protect pets; create a safety kit that includes water, canned food, flashlights, radio and first aid kit.
Be prepared and stay safe!
